Jenny is a wonderful blogger; for a box swap, we paired up, having been introduced to each other over on Twitter. Therefore, I felt that she would make an ideal candidate for my ‘Blogging To Business series’; I emailed questions, and this was the result:
How did you get into blogging?
I got into blogging because I was bored and in a dark place, basically. My blog started as a book blog because I loved reading (and still do) and I had just quit my college course due to stress and anxiety and I was in a really dark place. I found another book blog and loved it and thought I could do that. So I did!
How do you plan for posts?
I don’t really brainstorm ideas but when ideas come to me, I’ll jot them down on my phone so I don’t forget. I like to plan and schedule ahead so I usually have around a months worth of content scheduled.
Where does your inspiration for posts derive from?
Anything and everything! I’ve recently started taking inspiration from my real life and talking more about personal things which is always important. Aside from that, books, films, other bloggers, TV, random conversations I overhear. Inspiration can come from anywhere.
What do you think about niches?
I don’t personally have a niche and that works for me. I don’t think there is anything to think about – if you want a niche and want to talk about just one particular topic you love then that’s great. If you want to chat about anything and everything, that’s cool too.
What do you think about blogging for business?
Again, if it works for a certain individual and they work hard at it then why the heck not! I can’t live off of the income I make from my blog but I’m proud to say I do make some money from it and there’s nothing wrong with that. Again, if you want to only blog for a hobby then that’s fine but if you want to work hard and turn your blog into a business then go for it!
Write about things you’re passionate about. Don’t just write about something cos everyone else is. Be yourself and make your own voice heard.
Random: what do you think about pineapple on pizza?
Love it! It’s about the only controversial opinion I have haha!
